WholeTrees Architecture & Structures build with branched and curved timbers of incredibly varied shape and size.   A waste product of conventional timber harvests, their uninterrupted fiber structure makes them far stronger than milled lumber.  The same organic forms on the other hand, can be especially challenging to represent and deploy within modern building design and construction workflows.

This interactive 3d model (press the play button) is comprised of digital assets generated by parametric design tools to represent non-standard round timbers at a fine grain of detail.   With support from the USDA, those tools were developed as part of WholeTrees ongoing round timber commercialization efforts.

The subject of this digital reconstruction was WholeTrees Architecture & Structures' Organic Valley band shell.  Photos are included here courtesy of WholeTrees and more information is available at wholetrees.com.
